Dogo Argentinos - General DescriptionDogo Argentino Dogs are smart, good-natured and friendly. It is a large-game hunting dog native to Argentina. The purpose of its development was to hunt wild boar and puma. This mastiff type breed is muscular and graceful. Their hallmarks are white coats, loose skin on their necks, long tails that are never carried up, and massive heads with docked ears. The loose skin protects the dog during the hunt. The short coat is thick, smooth and shiny. It has no undercoat. The chest is wide, deep and strong. The dog's massive head has a moderate stop. The jaws are powerful. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The dog's eyes are either dark brown or dark hazel. The expression is intelligent, alert and eager. The nose is black.
Dogo Argentinos - Is This the Breed for You?The Dogo Argentino is not a dog for everyone. This white mastiff requires early socialization with other animals and needs early obedience training. Dogo Argentinos do not tend to provoke the confrontation, but can be rather aggressive with other dogs. Some Dogos can be more dominant than others.This breed will do all right in an apartment if it is provided with a proper amount of exercise. An average-sized yard is a minimal requirement. Dogo Argentinos should not be kept outdoors in cold temperatures. Dogo Argentinos are low maintenance dogs, but they require a responsible adult to take good care of them.
